About me
Hi! I’m Martine (30), and I live in the beautiful city of Utrecht (the Netherlands) with my partner Remy and our dog, Guusje. Being creative has always come naturally to me. From painting and candle making to crocheting and building furniture. If it can be made, I’ll give it a try.
In 2024, I started Ten Little Things, a small webshop full of handmade home accessories. I soon realized that what I enjoy most is creating custom-made pieces: unique items that add something truly personal to someone’s home.
That discovery led me to tufting: a technique that lets me fully express my love for color, texture, and form. Since then, my focus has completely shifted to this craft. And that’s how Filo was born.
The name Filo fits perfectly with what I do: it means “to love” in Ancient Greek and “thread” in Italian and Portuguese. That’s exactly what my work is about: a love for thread, and for creating unique, handmade pieces that bring warmth and character to any home.
Handmade
Tufting is a technique in which yarn is pushed into a cloth using a tufting gun to create a pattern or image. The result is a soft and textured piece, perfect as a wall hanging or rug.
Each piece is made entirely by hand, from the first sketch to the final finishing touch. This hands-on process makes every work unique. No mass production, just care, time, and craftsmanship. It’s the small variations and subtle imperfections that give each piece its own character and make it a truly special addition to your interior.
Collaboration
I love creating fully custom pieces, made to fit your wishes. Think of a wall hanging inspired by a birth announcement, wedding card, portrait, or even an illustration of your pet.
Based on your ideas, I’ll start with a sketch. Together, we’ll adjust and refine it until it feels just right for you or for the occasion. The result is a personal piece that’s not only special to give or receive, but also tells a story of its own.
Thank you for visiting my website. I look forward to creating something beautiful together!
